Central Montcalm High School

The middle school gymnasium is an older part of the school building complex and there is NOT an accessible way for a mobile chair to go from the gymnasium to the bathrooms unless you can carry the wheelchair up 2 sets of several steps (see the pictures below). This is a major issue. Otherwise, there is plenty of handicapped parking right close to the door. The entry doors are manual. There is limited handicapped seating cut into a part of the bleachers. Getting around (if you don’t need the restroom) is good, however, the major problem here is getting to the rest room. (editor’s comments: If a Friend of Johnny finds an alternative, please provide us an update…the person selling tickets at the school indicated the only other way was going out of the building to another part of the building, however, in the dead of winter this was not a good alternative). Bathroom (if you can get to it) is okay, but the handicapped stall barely fits a small mobile chair. A powerchair would never make it into the stall. You would have to transfer out of your chair before going into the stall if in a power chair.
